Cleveland Cavaliers City Edition 2021-22 Give this a wordmark on the chest instead of a full logo and its a winner. The logo is just too detailed, but if it was just the arched ‘Cavaliers’ on it’s own and it would work well. Very pleased it is only wine and gold, with no trace of black in sight.
Chicago Bulls City Edition 2021-22 I’ve always liked this Chicago script, and think it should feature more often on Bulls jerseys. Maybe wouldn’t have minded some subtle black pinstripes on the red would have been nice. I know the weirdly low offset number is throwback, but it’s an unnecessary one, lift it up and these are much better.
Charlotte Hornets City Edition 2021-22 It’ll sell well because of LaMelo, and that should be the only reason. The gradient on the jersey (not the shorts, they should be a solid colour) could almost be forgiven if not for the horrendous inclusion of the honeycomb pattern. I know it’ll be popular in corners of the internet, but those folk are wrong, sorry.
Brooklyn Nets City Edition 2021-22 Quite good all around. I much prefer this to the tie-dye variation from last season, the side detailing is nice, but I would have liked to have seen bigger stars more reminiscent of the jerseys its inspired by.
Boston Celtics City Edition 2021-22 The Celtics are one of those teams that probably just shouldn’t have “other” jerseys, but this is relatively inoffensive, and a good nod to one of their originals. The only bit I don’t really like is the unnecessary use of grey side panels on the shorts. And while I know sponsors patches aren’t great, I do like that Vista Print have allowed a variety of flexibility in how they appear on each of the Celtics jerseys this season.
Atlanta Hawks City Edition 2021-22 Not the design I would have chosen to riff off of, I’d have gone with one of the 70s/80s designs (probably the one that goes with the featured wordmark). Not sure about Atlanta in full yellow, but at least they stayed away from the temptation of a gradient.
Inter Milan Home 2021-22 This season’s Inter kit features a pretty wild all-over snake-skin print, which thankfully in this photo hasn’t been desecrated by their silly new crypto-token-something sponsor logo. The toning on the snake-skin also still gives the black and blue stripe feel of a classic Inter kit.
Barcelona Away 2021-22 A very simple light violet jersey, with the main highlights being the iridescent badges — quite similar to something that PSG sported a couple of years back — and alternate red/blue stripes on each side.
Chelsea Home 2021-22 Nike have continued to find a way to do an all-blue jersey without making it all-blue … if that makes sense. The warped checks and zig-zags bring some modern fun without — at least in my opinion — being too offensive for traditionalists.
Paris Saint-Germain Away 2021-22 PSG’s kits rarely disappoint, and this season’s white/pastel-pink colour combo is very nice while still fitting with their usual center-vertical-stripe pattern in a unique way. The alternating colours on the sleeve trim are a nice touch too.
Liverpool Away 2021-22 What’s not to like? The off-white colour, a proper collar, the deep green and fluorescent red trim. It’s all very nice and I like it a lot.
Australia T20 2019-20 After cutting back on the amount of black in last year’s T20 kit, Asics have reverted to an almost completely black look for the Australian shirt this year.
Overall this is one of the better black kits the Australians have had, but I still don’t really know why they persist with a black kit at all. Probably money.
Aside from that my only real gripes are that the collar is still weird (carried over from the Aussies World Cup shirt), and that the yellow trim really needs to be lime – or the lime pattern needs to be yellow – not both.
Alinta Energy also need to have a talk with their marketing people and come up with a better logo for use on these kits. My recommendation, just use the word mark, and in a single colour. Please.
Not shown here is the player number on the back of the shirt which is yellow but frustratingly include a completely pointless yellow outline.
